New bill limits restroom use to those of same biological sex

As changes have been made involving same-sex marriages and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, families have been affected by those changes. Whether it's a change to restrict and discriminate or one allowing for same-sex marriage, any change to the LGBT community's rights makes a difference. As a same-sex couple or a person of the LGBT community, you may be concerned about the discrimination you've been shown in the past, and in some cases, you could file claims for those actions.

A new law has recently passed in North Carolina that discriminates against LGBT people of all ages. This law now directs public colleges, government agencies and public schools to alter bathroom usage by making them open to only people of the same biological sex.

Part of the problem for the LGBT community is that these individuals may not get their gender identities changed on their birth certificates, which is what would be required to allow them to use the restrooms as their preferred genders. How does this affect families?

Consider this: Even a young child that identifies differently will have to go to the restrooms that associate with his or her original gender. Parents who would have been able to take a child into the restroom may be restricted to a different facility. Lawmakers claim that this change was made to protect women in restrooms or locker rooms from men who would dress as women to enter. Opponents state that there are no known instances of that kind of thing happening, and it's discriminatory to assume anyone dressing as another gender would be dangerous to others.
